Religious Exploration

Heartland Unitarian Universalist Church's Religious Exploration program strives to create a safe, supportive, fun community that respects and celebrates life by promoting curiosity, empathy, and self-confidence, while nurturing spiritual discovery and self-expression.

Religious Exploration (RE) for Youth

Our current RE program is divided loosely by grade level into communities:

  • Kindergarten through 3rd grade

  • 5th through 7th grade

  • 8th through 12th grade

Infants through Preschoolers are welcome in the supervised nursery. The nursery is free play (no RE curriculum).

Parents are always welcome to join their children in RE classes for as long or as short as desired.

Volunteers Appreciated
  • Helper for Nursery

  • Teachers and Helpers for K- 2nd (rotating between 2 other teachers)

  • Substitute teachers for upper elementary class, and middle/high school class

The youth at our church are fun, smart, and caring. Volunteering for RE is a great way to get to know them and help raise them with open minds and hearts.

Sexual Education (OWL)

"Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives.

It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives.

For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities."
